Swami here. To tell about myself, I am finishing my MS degree at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA and will be joining the same school for my Ph.D. from August. I will probably be doing Ph.D. for next 4-5 years in Houston. So someone who would be willing to move to Houston at least after two years or so, would be great. Of course, no one should sacrifice their career ambitions for my sake. So please consider if you can do what you would like to do in Houston. I will get 32000 USD per year and I anticipate that I can manage the expenses of two people in Houston. With my stipend, two people can live a middle-class life, not a luxurious life. I lived a middle-class life all throughout my life and I am very happy with my life. I am on F1 student Visa which means my spouse cannot work if she is dependent on my visa. I plan to be in academia or pharma industry as a research scientist after my Ph.D. and my salary in USA immediately after my Ph.D. could be anywhere from 55k-100k a year. I know life is not about money and thats why I chose my profession, but I just want others to know what to expect from me.
I started this matrimonial profile because I realized marriage is about bringing two families together and not just the couple. So far I havent found anyone, so I would like to find someone through this route. I would like to follow all my cultural practices what was taught to me from young age i.e. doing Sandhya Vandanam, celebrating all tambrahm festivals, going to Temple often, being humble and helpful to everyone. I like to be friends with people from all religions, cultures etc. I believe in spiritual democracy and I would like to follow my tambrahm culture because I cannot follow all religions and all cultures. I am explaining these because I would like my wife to be comfortable when I invite my friends home for any get-together or if I invite my wife to accompany me to any fun events/functions with my friends etc. I would also like to raise my children secularly and not polarise them to think only our culture/caste/religion is the best.
As you can see from me writing a lot about myself, you would have figured out that I am an extrovert. People say I am an example of an extrovert. I really like to be friends with everyone, be kind and helpful to everyone. I would like to save money and help the poor and needy throughout my life after I have taken care of my family. I would like to live a comfortable life, not a lavish one. I like to be good friends with my wife and her family. I would support her in whatever she wants to do. If someone wants to come to Houston and pursue a course, I can take care of living expenses but tuition fee may not be possible with my Ph.D. stipend.
I would like to host both my parents and my wife parents as often as possible once I become more financially stable. I would like my parents to stay with me 5 months or so in a year, whatever the visa regulations allow them to do. I would be happy if my in-laws would like to come and stay with us the next 5 months. I believe the girl has equal rights to have the same affection a guy has towards his parents and would like to give that happiness to my wife.
About my career - I am very career oriented person. I chose to do be a cancer researcher because I would like to have an impact in many peoples life by alleviating the sufferings caused by this disease. I would want to be a researcher and understand this disease to come up with novel therapeutic strategies. I would want to stay in this country to have a global impact by using the resources available here. After my Ph.D., I would be interested in doing a two body search and would be willing to move to a city where both my wife and I can have a good future. Because I have accepted my Ph.D. offer, I would not be able to relocate for another 4-5 years. If you like me, please get in touch with me. If someone thinks it will not work out, I am happy to be just friends or stop being in touch with you after you let me know your decision. I respect any decision someone makes and this your life !
