Given that it is always odd to try and describe oneself in an arbitrary number of words, I will attempt to give this a go. I am an ambivert who enjoys the thrill of the stage as well as meditative down-time. My interests are plenty, but generally seem to revolve around badminton, the gym, entrepreneurship, and astronomy. Most of the classical arts and sciences (and their modern derivative subjects) play roles in my life, at least to a hobbyists extent: Grammar and Rhetoric, which enable my enjoyment of writing; Logic and Arithmetic, which are fundamental to my vocation; Music, whence I derive understanding of rhythm through my mridangam, and general enjoyment of a multitude of genres; and the aforementioned Astronomy, which likely was my first real hobby that ate countless frigid nights at the telescope, sketchbook, and camera.
After a fulfilling bioinformatics-based D.Phil. At Oxford, I am now a Scientific Consultant for a multi-national biotech firm. I enjoy the challenge of applying my perspective to novel applications at the edge of genomics and translational medicine. Each day at work is entirely unlike the previous, but thankfully it is almost always possible to inject a little comedy and humour into even the driest conversation with a client. I am enjoying my time in the UK and have worked hard to ensure I can invest time and energy into building a comfortable life in London. It is the perfect city for me to indulge in my hobbies and continue building my career and, hopefully, my future family life. Therefore, despite being Canadian and knowing my way around North America, my goal is absolutely to stay in the UK.
I have a voracious appetite for travel and I believe world citizenry, entrepreneurship, and charity will be central to our lives in the coming decades. Having lived in four countries with distinct identities, I value and enjoy cultural traditions, including our own. This extends to languages, art, history, mythology, and importantly, cuisine! I enjoy sporting events and maintain a healthy understanding of cricket, baseball, ice hockey, and football (American, Canadian, and English). Although my interests, goals, and personality run a veritable laundry list, I now feel the constraints of this text box and it is best if I end it here. I am glad to continue the conversation and exchange photographs off-line, as in any case, some things are better left to a more private medium.
She would harbour experiences of, or an appreciation for, different cultures and countries, and be similarly interested in travel and exploring the planet (and perhaps beyond, were that to happen in our lifetime). She should have a range of interests and a charismatic personality. Whilst our interests or careers do not need to overlap completely, I would hope she can be supportive of my activities as I would be of hers. She should have both goals and dreams for her career and hobbies, and a health-conscious attitude to meeting the challenges of the day.
