The Pride of Brahmins:
Narayana Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys, was called the Father of Indian IT sector by Time magazine for his contribution to outsourcing in India.

Viswanathan Anand, became India's first Grandmaster in 1988 and is a five-time World Chess Champion.

Sachin Tendulkar, the "God of Cricket", belongs to the Saraswat Brahmin community. He is the first Indian to aggregate 50,000 runs or more in all forms of domestic and international cricket.

Famous Indian Brahmin sports persons include Badminton star Prakash Padukone, cricketer Sourav Ganguly, shooting star and Olympic medalist Vijay Kumar.

Deepika Padukone, the leading Bollywood superstar belongs to the Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin community. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 2013.

The famous television star and comedian Kapil Sharma is a Brahmin. He was ranked among top 100 celebrities in 2013 by the Forbes India magazine.

Brahmins are broadly divided into two regional groups: Pancha-Gauda Brahmins from the Northern part of India (north of the Vindhya Mountains) and Pancha-Dravida Brahmins from the south of the Vindhya Mountains.

In 1931, Brahmins constituted 4.32% of the total population in India.

The sampradaya (religious system) of ISKCON was propounded by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who belonged to the Brahmin community.

Out of the 10 Indian-origin Nobel laureates, five are Brahmins, namely Rabindranath Tagore, C.V. Raman, Hargobind Khorana, Venkataraman Ramakrishnan and Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
